Fabric FAQs

What is the difference between fabric width and printable width?

Fabric width is the full selvedge-to-selvedge measurement supplied by the mill (e.g. 150 cm).

Printable width (also called usable width) is the portion we can safely print (excluding selvedges and margins) so it’s typically 5cm centimetres narrower (e.g. 145 cm printable width on a 150 cm fabric). fabr

What does fire retardant mean?

Fire-retardant (FR) fabrics are designed to resist ignition and slow flame spread—they aren’t fireproof. FR performance can be inherent (built into the fibre) or applied as a finish (which may diminish with laundering).

Many projects require proof of compliance (e.g. local test standards for drapery and interiors); we can recommend suitable bases and provide test reports where available.

You can view our fire retardant fabric range here.

Do you offer any fabrics made of recycled materials?

Yes we sure do! We stock selected recycled-polyester (rPET) bases and can source other recycled-content options on request.

You can browse our recycled fabric range here.

What fabrics does dye sublimation work on?

Sublimation bonds best to polyester (ideally 65–100%) and other polymer-coated materials. Natural fibres like cotton or linen won’t sublimate properly. For natural fabrics, check out our Natural Fabric printing options.

Do you offer natural fabrics for printing?

Yes, we provide a wide range of high-quality natural fibre fabrics, including linens, cottons, and blends, perfect for printed products that need to look and feel their best.

Do you have fabrics suitable for adding feature panels to activewear?

Yes, we do! Our Stretch Mesh fabric, composed of 85% polyester and 15% elastane, is perfect for feature panels in leggings, activewear, and swimwear, offering both elasticity and lightweight comfort.
