How to Setup Files for Laser Cutting

Getting a file ready for laser cutting is easier than you might think. With just a couple of simple steps, your design will be ready to go and the laser can do its job with clean, accurate results.

Laser cutting is available as an add-on to our fabric printing service. Once your design has been printed, we can cut it to shape with precision, saving you time in the workroom and giving you a clean, professional finish straight from production. It’s a simple way to streamline your project from start to finish.

Cut Line Requirements

  • A black outline (stroke) of 1.5mm–2mm thickness should be applied to the outside edge of every shape or pattern intended for cutting.
  • The laser cutter reads this outline as the cut path.
  • Any element without this defined outline will not be cut.

Notches and Nicks

  • Notches and nicks are not cut by the laser cutter.
  • If they are required, they must be produced separately by the workroom after the laser cutting process.
  • Only the designated cut outlines will be recognised by the machine.
