How does printing on natural fabrics work?

Natural fabrics like cotton and linen have a distinctive texture and feel that designers love — and with the right printing techniques, they can also carry beautifully detailed, lasting prints.

At Mereton, we use specialised digital processes developed specifically for natural fibre textiles, ensuring clarity, colour consistency, and durability.

Our approach preserves the natural character of the fabric while delivering strong colours and lots of detail, ideal for applications where both aesthetic and material integrity matter.

No overproduction, no excess stock, minimal waste

Sustainability is woven into every step of our process, and printing on natural fibres is no exception.

We print to order, which means no overproduction, no excess stock, and minimal waste. Our digital printing process is water-efficient and free from harsh chemicals, making it a cleaner alternative to traditional methods like screen printing or dye baths.

We also prioritise recyclable packaging and continuously seek out natural base fabrics with strong environmental credentials — including organic cotton and low-impact fibre blends. Natural FAQs

Do you offer colour matching services?

We sure do! If you need something colour matched, you can quote Pantone colours or you can send in a physical swatch or item that you want us to match to.

In order for us to colour match, the files supplied must be in vector format.

What are the lead times for natural fabric printing?

We print everything to order. Production typically takes 7–10 working days, and 1-2 working days for samples.

If you require colour matching, this can extend lead times until the approval process is complete.

Can you print on my supplied cotton or linen?

Yes we can print on your own supplied fabrics. We will need to check them to ensure they are suitable for printing. Be sure to get in touch with us and we would be more than happy to chat about this option with you.

Do you offer natural fabrics for printing?

Yes, we provide a wide range of high-quality natural fibre fabrics, including linens, cottons, and blends, perfect for printed products that need to look and feel their best. ‍
