A Water Repellent and Antibacterial Treatment for Hardworking Fabrics

A Water Repellent and Antibacterial Treatment for Hardworking Fabrics

Our homes, hospitality spaces and commercial environments see plenty of use throughout the day, making durability and performance just as important as how a fabric looks and feels.

For upholstery and soft furnishings, that means choosing fabrics that can handle everyday spills, regular cleaning, sunlight and continued use, while still delivering the colour, texture and comfort that make a space feel considered.

Eco-Guard™ is a high-performance textile treatment designed to provide an added layer of protection across suitable fabric qualities.

Combining liquid repellency, antibacterial defence, UV colour retention and abrasion resistance, Eco-Guard™ is designed for residential, hospitality and commercial environments where fabric performance matters.
‍

Eco-Guard™ combines two key technologies within the fabric:

Water-Repellency which helps prevent everyday liquid spills from quickly absorbing into the fabric weave. When liquid comes into contact with the surface, it beads rather than immediately saturating the fabric, giving you time to blot the spill away.

HealthGuard™ helps inhibit bacteria and odour-causing microbes, supporting a cleaner and more hygienic fabric surface between regular cleaning cycles.

Together, these treatments provide additional protection while maintaining the natural texture, drape, colour and comfort of the textile.

Designed for diverse environments

‍Eco-Guard™ offers a combination of performance properties suited to a range of applications, from residential living areas and hotel interiors through to restaurants, healthcare environments, corporate spaces and covered outdoor areas.

Selected fabric qualities achieve ISO 6–7 lightfastness, providing a high level of resistance to colour fading in sunlit interiors and covered outdoor settings.

For environments where chlorine resistance is important, selected qualities achieve ISO 105-E03 Grade 4–5, making them suitable for applications such as covered poolside and coastal spaces.

Abrasion resistance varies between fabrics, with selected qualities achieving 40,000 to 50,000 Martindale cycles for higher-demand upholstery applications.

‍

How Eco-Guard™ performs

  • Liquid Repellency
Liquids bead at the surface, allowing spills to be blotted before they quickly absorb into the weave.
    ‍
  • Antibacterial Defence
HealthGuard™ technology helps inhibit bacteria and odour-causing microbes
    ‍
  • Lightfastness ISO 6–7
High resistance to colour fading in sunlit interiors and covered outdoor areas.
    ‍
  • Chlorine Resistance ISO 105-E03 Grade 4–5
Added resistance for suitable poolside, coastal and alfresco applications.
    ‍
  • Abrasion Resistance
Selected qualities achieve 40,000–50,000 Martindale cycles for higher-demand upholstery.

Caring for Eco-Guard™ fabrics

While Eco-Guard™ helps repel liquids, prompt treatment of spills is still important for maintaining the appearance of the fabric over time.

For fixed upholstery, place an absorbent cloth or paper towel over the spill and gently press to lift the surface liquid. Blot any remaining moisture with a clean white cloth, taking care not to rub the fabric.

If required, lightly mist the affected area with clean water and apply a small amount of mild, pH-neutral household soap. Gently dab the area with a soft cloth before allowing it to air dry naturally, away from direct heat.
